October is considered a good month to plant canopy restoration trees, entering a time when newly planted trees can develop roots before the coming warm months increase their needs for water.
There are quite a few examples of canopy restoration newly planted trees in the Walnut Creek Neighborhood. Look for examples in the next few postings.
If you have planted trees in the past few years, please offer postings, with photos if possible, of why tree species selected, age of planting, height of planting, tips for selection/platings, and/or things you would do differently. In other words, any information that would help a neighbor to make a decision about helping the neighborhood to increase our lost canopy.
